April Ml— Anthony De Rothschilds Pillion, daughter of Chancer and Doable Hack, beat a fine band of three-vear-old fillies in the 1.000 Guineas Stakes here this afternoon. The daughter of Chaucer led Lord Durhams Trilogy to the finish by a length and a half. A length further back. Dord Astors Short Story saved third place from Capt. R. B. Brasseys Bart Worn. Ferryman, who rode Billion, had previously ridden sixty-seven consecutive losers. The Rothschild filly was at 25 to 1 in the betting. Trilogy was § to 1 ; Short Story Lo to 1 and Part Worn 25 to 1. l.ady Richardsons Karra was favorite at loo to ;.o, but she was never seriously in the running and finished unplaced. The Rous mile course, over which the race was run, was covered in 1 :4L. There were twenty- I nine starters in the race. Although Anthony I e Rothschild has been racing a good stable for a number of years, this was his first classic victory.
