Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Churchill Downs SUX DANCE HERO SAVORDSMAX SAVORDSMAXFor For the twoyearold maiden dash that opens the afternoons card J N Camden ap ¬ pears to hold the winning hand with SUN DANCE a son of Ambassador IV One Step This youngster has started three times fin ¬ ishing second in his last out Should romp home in the lead HERO a son of the great racer Hourless that has made good in the stud may prove troublesome and should at least be in the money SWORDSMAN is one of the Whitney youngsters and they are al ¬ ways entitled to careful consideration This son of Chicle raced at Miami and Lexington and on several occasions ave evidence of breaking into the winning column columnINDIANAPOLIS INDIANAPOLIS FIJTXSTEU SUSAN REBECCA REBECCAINDIANAPOLIS INDIANAPOLIS showed the kind of a race she is capable of turning in in her start at Lexington Last year she was thought to be a champion but she turned out to be a morning glory However in her first race this year she raced like a good one and easily beat Blue Torch and Flying Spark If she is still on her good behavior we think she could win this gal ¬ lop She will meet some fast company in FINXSTER and SUSAN REBECCA The former put in a long winter season at Miami where he fared pretty well He has done nothing but burn up the track in his morn ¬ ing spins since arriving here and we are thinking he may be the one to place SU ¬ SAN REBECCA has a second and a third to her credit at the Lexington meeting In each race she displayed keen speed but ap ¬ peared a trifle short Those efforts should have put her on edge and her chances for getting a piece of money here look exceed ¬ ingly good goodCHAMP CHAMP BE MARS PRESIDENT MART O OThe The Keene Brothers hope for the Derby CHAMP DE MARS will be given the sever ¬ est test in his short racing career when he starts in the South Park Purse to be run as the third race No less than twentyone were entered and a large field is sure to bo seen when the bugle call is heard If he should prove victorious in this field he will have to be more highly regarded than he is at present His last race found him home winner by five lengths but the company wasnt much There is plenty of speed represented in the race and aside from the first mentioned we like PRESI ¬ DENTS chances very well The Bradley horses are in wonderful condition at the present and the latter1 is no exception MARY O ran a good race in her last start and on the strength of that showing we think she may do well enough to get the show here hereFLORENCE FLORENCE MILLS TEAK LA VEEN VEENFLORENCE FLORENCE MILLS has all her speed as evidenced by her five lengths victory over the crack filly Helens Babe at Lexington recently With a drop of eighteen pounds off that gallop it seems to be next to impossible for her to miss connections in this race Mose Goldblatts TEAK however with a gate position close to the rail and with the featherweight of 99 pounds fgures to run close to the front and will probably be the one to beat She also showed a winning performance at Lexington and beat such good ones as Little Visitor and Rothermel The race was over the Futurity Course and the Tea Caddy miss was in tight quarters near the finish If she duplicates the effort today she will hardly be worse than second LAVJ2EN is making her first appearance of the year She will run coupled with TEAK and appears ready on her morning works worksRHINOCK RHINOCK MALCOLM B JR TOKEN TOKENThe The Derby Trial may wind up in a smash ¬ ing finish It will probably be a close thing with RHINOCK getting the call over MAL ¬ COLM B JR and TOKEN These three colts are fit and ready for sharp efforts RHIN ¬ OCK making his bow as a threeyearold should race into the winners end He has worked fast displays great early speed and a willingness to run as far as he is asked to go MALCOLM B JR with three corking good races this year under his hide must pick up eight pounds off his last race which he won The eight pounds may mean the difference between first and second money to W C Baxter RHINOCK is Jiked in some quarters as the dark horse in the Derby TOKEN has had a campaign at Miami in which to tighten up and also a Lexington gallop which took the kinks out of his joints He is the third of the trio dop ¬ ing to have a chance at the main prize prizeTHIRTEEN THIRTEEN SIXTY GAY HALLIE MYRTLE CALDWELL THIRTEEN SIXTY a son of John P Grier the latter the only horse ever to push the great Man o War stacks up as much the best of the twoyearolds named for the sixth race The filly has faced the barrier twice in her short career won one and was third to General Haldeman in the Centennial Futurity In the last named race she carried a hundred and nineteen pounds and in her winning canter she packed a hundred and sixteen to the wire With a hundred and ten pounds as her impost she should step right down to victory without much opposition Competition is expected from GAY HALLIE The Perkinstrained miss can do much better than she did in the Centennial Futurity In that race she was buffeted about at the start and could never get into her stride Throw the race out MYRTLE CALDWELL is picked to snare the short end of the money She raced three times during the Jefferson Park meeting and took brackets the second time out Since reaching Ken ¬ tucky she has been working fast and should give a good account of herself against these theseTHE THE LEOPARD XTRA BELZONI BELZONIJ j J Lowes THE LEOPARD is a consistent plater runs right back to his mark day after day and this trait makes him appear the logical play in the last race on the card He will have the recent good thing XTRA to beat The latter furnished a surprise re ¬ cently by running second to My Destiny at Beau coup odds He comes from a good stable and should improve on that race enough so to be second to THE LEOPARD BELZONI had winning ways at Miami and Tampa and won eighty per cent of his races He has been rested up since the winter tracks closed and might need a tightener If how ¬ ever he is as good as he was at Miami he will not be far from the winners end of the purse here HULLO found the short turns at Tampa to his liking and won in his last two appearances at the Florida track He merits respect One Best Bet RHINOCK in Fifth Eace
