Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Churchill Downs J G DEJfNY DRY MOON BROOMSTER BROOMSTERSome Some fast sprinters meet in the opener and 1 here we are picking J G DENNY to be the victor He has the speed of the race and is in good form at the present True his last out found him among the also rans but on that occasion he was just a little short and tired after racing into a contending position We look for him to atone for that defeat to ¬ day He will meet up with some worthy com ¬ pany in DRY MOON The latter turned in a fine performance in his first start in these parts when he ran neck and neck with Ban ¬ ter only to lose the decision by a nose He can be counted on to give a good account of himself today also BROOMSTER showed much improvement in his first start here over his races at Lexington when he was home the winner On that showing he will prove dan ¬ gerous PURE DEE seems to be back in his last years form judging from his last race If that showing wasnt a fluke look for him to be close up here hereJOCK JOCK KIXG BASIL FLORIDA GOLD GOLDOn On past performances JOCK does not ap ¬ pear to have much chance but he is much better than rated His workouts were all of a high order and if he would only run in a race as he does in the morning would prove the winner here We are jgnoring his last two races and looking for him to step down in front today KING BASIL is well thought of by his stable connections and may pull a surprise one of these days We received some choice info about this one and are passing it along to you FLORIDA GOLD showed such an improvement in his last start that we are compelled to believe he will be good enough here to land the show money ARTILLERYMAN comes from the same stable as Carlaris If he were to show as well as he did in his last race at Tijuana he might upset calculations and cop the purse purseBRADLEYS BRADLEYS TONEY BRUNSWICK ¬ MICKEY FREE FREEBRADLEYS BRADLEYS TONEY seems to be in a most favorable spot in the third a three quarters dash He is not meeting up with such classy company but more of his own grade He had one race at Lexington but was handed a trimming then Since arriving here he has turned in some fine moves and we are expecting him to account for this race OLD BRUNSWICK has had many a battle but is still able to win his share of purses He was sent south last winter but was only raced a few times being victorious once With the long rest he has had he should now b3 in shape to race with any of them If he were to turn in his usual per ¬ formance think he could take care of the place money without much trouble MICKEY FREE has not raced since the Jefferson Park meeting He has been coming along in fine style being quartered here and may be the one to save the show RODRIGO is in winning stride at the present and if he were to race as well as in his last two starts would prove dangerous company companyTHE THE LEOPARD XORSELAXD RAMKIX RAMKIXThe The fourth is a tough spot to pick the win ¬ ner Conditions call for platers to race over the mile and a sixteenth route We are se ¬ lecting THE LEOPARD to score basing on his Lexington form His first race here found him among the alsos but he can do much better NORSELAND is a most consistent racer and if she were to give the same brand of speed as she has been showing in her most recent races would not have much trouble in taking down the place money RAMKIN put in a busy winter but has Jiad a long well earned rest and is once again ready for the races If his trials are a true indication of his form he will be heard from in the race JOHN FINN hung up a fine record at Tampa Taking a line through his last race he might horn in the money at the finish j jMARY MARY O DEVON ALI BABA BABAThe The race MARY O turned in in her last out would make her the logical choice to win this number the Oakdale Purse She was going like a bullet at the finish but was not quite good enough for Huntsman She seems to be in good form right now and we think she will prove the easiest winner on the card DEVON is a Derby candidate but it is hardly possible he will face the barrier next Saturday He is more in his own class here and should be able to save the place ALI BABA is another Derby eligible but hasnt got a chance in the world If he were to race to his Jefferson Park form he might take the show money ALLEGHAN did not race up to expectations this spring and he too would have scant chance in the classic If he were to race as he is really able to he might get a portion of the money moneyA A B BENSINGER SIXTEEN SIXTY ROYAL RALLY RALLYA A real battle should be seen in the sixth race another juvenile test over the four and a half furlongs course A B BEN SINGER scored in his last two races at Lexington while SIXTEEN SIXTY did the same at the Fair Grounds at New Orleans The former holds the advantage however for the reason that his wins were scored only a week or so back while the other may have trained off since his last appearance At least thats the way we look at it An ¬ other good one in the race is ROYAL RALLY a Tampa development His last race was also a victory while in his other starts he was always well up at the finish Basing on those races it is hard to figure how he can miss getting the show at least Of the others IRENE ROHAN appears the best bestDOLLY DOLLY BAY MRS MOORE FAIR KOWENA KOWENAWe We are going to take a chance with a long shot in the final race on the card This one is DOLLY BAY Her last race found her finishing way down but not many lengths away from the winner at that Her training moves also have been such as to believe that she may be good enough to score today MRS MOORE also rates well up on the strength of her last race in which she was the winner A race back to that effort would find her well up here if not the victorious one FAIR ROWENA is good at the present and can be expected to show enough foot to take down the small end of the purse MY DESTINY figures close up and may prove dangerous in the race One Best Bet MARY 0 in Fifth Race
