Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora V RAJ MY MARY QUEEN HESS HESSPicking Picking the winners on todays card is no easy task Every race with the exception of one contains more than the limit amount that will be enabled to start To start the furlongs sprint and hcret seventeen were en ¬ tered It is about as bad a lot of horses as could be mustered together for a race and as is the case in a race of this kind the winner is apt to come from any source One pick is as good as another and our stab here is RAJ He has no claims to greatness but on his last years Hawthorne form appears to have a chance MY MARY is still a maiden but likely to graduate most any time If she races as she did in her last out she may grab off the place here QUEEN BESS could account for the sho were she to race as she did at Tijuana at times Another band of platers are scheduled to race over the Exposition Course in the sec ¬ ond number and while they are nothing to rave over they are considerably better than those which meet in the opener MERCUTIO won his last out over the mile and an eighth distance but he can also sprint when neces ¬ sary If he gets off well and is able to avoid the jam immediately after the start he may be good enough to prove a repeater JAUXEBAR raced promisingly in both of his starts here and will l e getting home in front one of these days If he puts up the same brand of speed today we think he may get the place HIS QUEEN fooled everybody in her initial appearance when she got home the winner and at large odds She wont be near the price today she was in her last out but looks like a good play for the small end of the purse purseARABELLA ARABELLA EDNA MITCHELL LA 1 Y LURA LURAThe The third event will see the juveniles in action over the fiveeighths distance It is an allowance affair and the usual seventeen were entered here ARABELLA ran a dandy race her last out when she beat Mayor Behr man and Tain ea among others She stepped the four and a half furlongs in 54 mighty good time for this course It is problematical whether or not she can go the further dis ¬ tance but today will tell Were she to step the quarter and a half as fast today as she did in her last out it might be that her early speed will kill off the others EDXA MITCHELL has won at this distance it being achieved in her last try She will have to run a good deal faster today if she is going to beat ARABELLA LADY LURA showed fairly well in her only appearance here and if she has improved any over that race may be the one to get the show showMASQFERADO MASQFERADO PROCEEDS HUOX PINE PINEThe The imported black gelding MASQUER ADO ran one of his good races his last out and at the end was four lengths clear of his opponents The company he meets today is no better and we cant see why he shouldnt run his score to two in a row The same ef ¬ fort today would find hm the winner without much trouble PROCEEDS has been some time in rounding into form but advices state that he is now in tiptop condition He can run when up to a race and if our information is not amiss expect him to be the contender in the race HUOX PIXE ran a few good races at Xew Orleans last winter but did not fare s6 well at the Lexington meeting If he has returned to his winter form he will make the race interesting for others BOXXIE LIZZIE may have something to say about the race if she runs as she did in her last start startHAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY STAR DUST BOLTON BOLTONThe The Mooseheart Purse to be run as the fifth is the feature race nnd brings out the better class of racers We think HAPPY BIRTHDAY is gocd enough to account for this number In his last out he could not get in his stride until too late and as a conscouence was among the also rans The time before that he was victorious by a length and a half and taking a line through that performance should be the one to score here STAR DUST finished second to HAPPY in the same race and if she goes as well today may again get the place The Boots Durncll racer BOLTON is reported to be getting into condition and if the infor ¬ mation is correct we think he should not have much trouble in saving the small end of the purse purseABRAGOSA ABRAGOSA LADY CHOCO SHINDY SHINDYThe The best play on the card is entered in the sixth a mile run This one Js ARRAGOSA from the stable of W M Cain He ran a real good race his last out to finish second to Fast Mail and if he were to improve any at all over that effort we think he would romp home an easy winner here For the place LADY CHOCO looks like the logical play She has been racing in improved form of late and needs but to run as well today to get the second money SHIXDY is going to prove a factor in the running if he races as he did at the last Akron meeting He man ¬ aged to win a couple of purses there and then got a third in his first appearance here BATTLE SHOT should have benefited from his race of Saturday He will bear watching watchingWAPITI WAPITI LEONTES SAN SAN SANThrow Throw out the last race run by WAPITI This old fellow is capable of showing to much better advantage than that effort in ¬ dicated We received some information about this one that compels us to believe that he is going to atone for his poor showing his last out LEOXTES is the one to fear in the race however taking a line through his last out In that number he finished a bangup second to Cheer Leader after get ¬ ting away none too well Should WAPITI fail we think this one will cop SAX SAX i was winner in his last race but only by the smallest of margins It was over the shorter distance of six and a half furlongs so dont think he is apt to prove a repeater He should get the show if any good at all One Best Bet ARRAGOSA in Sixth Race
