PASSING OF J. F. MANNIX HAVRE DE CRACK, Md., April 18.— Word of the death at Jersey City of the veteran horseman James F. Mannix was mournfully received by a host of his former friends today. Mannix died at the Polyclinic Hospital, New York, following an operation yesterday. He will be buried from his Jersey City home. His colors were best made known to both metropolitan and Maryland racing by ihe performance of his good colt Superintendent, which Clarence Merritt trained for him. a
