FUNERAL OF W. E. APPLEGATE LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 15.— Funeral services for "W. E. Applegate, prominent turfman and breeder, who died Sunday afternoon, were conducted from the residence here this morning. The Episcopal services were attended by a great number of relatives and friends of the deceased, which included all of the officials of Churchill Downs, leading horsemen, breeders, business men and others. Floral offerings were as extensive as they were beautiful. Pallbearers were Thomas Piatt, Erwin Weidolamp, William Weber, Kay Spence, John C. Ferris and William H. Shelley. Burial was in Cave Hill Cemetery.
