DISPLAYS FINE SPEE Irish Runs Five and a Half Fur ¬ longs in 1 06V5 Superior Stable Colt Recently RecentlyDisqualified Disqualified Wins Easily Aurora Crowd Large AURORA 111 May 9 Irish recently dis qualified made good this afternoon when h beat a hand of good sprinters over the fiV and a half furlongs distance in the fourth race He defeated Backbone by eight lengths while the latter was a good distance in advance of Peter Ruff and Christie Flanagan which fought it out for third money moneyEight Eight horses went to the post and jockey Ayraud got Irish off with the first flight The son of The Finn was riot long in securing a good lead and making the first turn was three lengths to the good Setting a pace which left the others behind he ran the five furlongs in 59 the fastest time of the meeting and finished the entire distance in 106 He had a margin of eight lengths at the end and was running easily as he passed the finish Backbone making his first start in some time ran a good race while Peter Huff was away slowly and did well to be third thirdThe The race was marred by an accident which occurred soon after the start Andresito threw jockey Logan as the race began and ran riderless to the end In his flight he interfered with several horses the principal sufferers being Old Kickapoo Jack Rankin and Pink Blossom BlossomLADIES LADIES DAT DATLadies Ladies Day was again responsible for a large crowd and the overflow surged into the aisles of the stand completely blocking the passageways as the races were being run The track was at its best and the weather ideal idealSeths Seths Companion with jockey Mulrooney aboard was a rather handy winner in the first race which was a dash of six furlongs The winner quick to get going set the pace and held on well when pressed in the stretch to have a half length advantage at the end Bright Flash coming gamely raced to sec ¬ ond place and BirdieWrack was third The winner which was well backed in certain quarters paid 1060 1060Kit Kit Carson an outsider which races for C B Irwin led all the way to win the sec ¬ ond race His margin at the finish was half a length Chester finished second and Meri wick was third Jockey Moran was astride Kit Carson and hustled him away from the barrier in advance of the others He gave the gelding a breathing spell when the half way mark was reached and though the win ¬ ner was tired at the finish he managed to last Chester came from behind behindTWO TWO FOR IKTVI3T IKTVI3TC C B Irwin won his second purse of the afternoon and jockey Moran rode his second winner when Miss Joan sprinted home in advance of a large band of twoyearolds in the third race Twelve youngsters went to the post and the start was delayed many minutes while they acted up Once in motion Miss Joan took command but was soon re ¬ placed by Belbane which opened up a long lead approaching the stretch turn On the turn jockey Keiser was unable to keep a straight course with Belbane and when that animal bolted to the outside fence Miss Joan went to the front opened up a clear lead in the final drive and won by two lengths Red Tarn finished second and Maxie Binder was third thirdTorch Torch fought his way to victory over a small band of stayers in the fifth race The race was interesting throughout and all six starters were dangerous at one time or another Houseboy and NaniHawaii set the early pace and after the former had turned for home two lengths in advance NaniHawaii came on to take command but Torch rushed down the outside in the last furlong and got up to win going away High Player coming gamely at the end got second place and NaniHawaii lasted to be third C B Irwin who has a habit of claiming likely looking horses took House boy out of the race for 2000
