BETFANDOT, always close to the pace, came steadily when urged in the stretch and, overtaking ROYAL MATE in the last eighth, was drawing away at the end. ROYAL MATE, starting well, showed the most early speed, but could not withstand the winner. SIMON LEGREE made up much ground and finished fast. HOAT-ZIN liked the going and raced close up. The latter saved ground on the stretch turn, took the Wd in the final eighth and barely missed. TIMBUS came fast in the stretch and finished gamely. BETON went to the front early and was rushed into a good lead, but could not hold it. MALICIOUS was badly outrun to the far turn, then moved up with a rush, but could not overtake the leaders. SCIMITAR dropped back after leaving the back stretch, but came again in the stretch, only to tire near the end. HEADS UP dropped completely out of it in the final quarter.
