PROCTOR HUG took the lead after a quarter and, racing well, lasted to hold HILO safe. The latter came gamely through the stretch. PRIDE OF TEXAS was a factor throughout. LITTLE PAT was also racing well near the end. NELLIE BASIL closed a gap. ROLLING STAR raced fairly well. BLACK CASTLE and BAPTISTE could not keep up. BROWN MARY threw her rider and ran away a mile before the start. APRONETTE improved her position and was going well at the finish. PREANDER was well up throughout. HIT THE DECK was never dangerous. CHICA GUINEA bumped BIG TRAIL soon after the start, causing the latter to lose his rider and, lucky to escape interference, overtook CHENENCEAU in the stretch. BOB BATES met interference from a riderless horse in the stretch. DEVOLTA made up ground. YGNACIO and BLUE HORIZON were cut off by the riderless BIG TRAIL on the back stretch and the latter also caused a jam on the first turn, in which BOOK ENDS lost her rider. CHENENCEAU tired. BIG TRAIL was knocked sidewise and unseated his rider. BOOK ENDS also bumped his rider when jostled on the first turn.
