FILE MASSACHUSETTS BILL BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 9. At a conference here today between representatives of local newspapers, members of the Eastern Horse Club and others, plans were made to interest members of the state legislature in the bill filed yesterday in the house of representatives by Eugene P. Durgin of South Boston. The Eastern Horse Club, which is composed of leading sportsmen of this community, and which for years has conducted a hunts meeting on the grounds of the Brookline Country Club, is fathering the effort to legalize pari-mutuel betting in Massachusetts. Representing the club in this endeavor are John R. Macomber, Bayard Tuckerman, August F. Goodwin, Charles F. Adams and Sumner Pingree, and they already have obtained the endorsement of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and other organizations.
