HIALEAH PARK GOSSIP : a In the absence of John T. Ireland, who is detained in New Orleans until the close of the meeting at Jefferson Park, William M. Wallace is acting as one of the stewards at Hialeah Park. .Robert McKeever, who has a couple of horses at Hialeah, was an arrival from New Orleans. He plans to remain until the conclusion of the meeting. Lester Doctor, associated with the Green-tree and John Hay Whitney stables, was another to reach here. James Fitzsimmons, one of the busiest trainers in the business, is returning to New York next week to look after the thirty-five horses he has in winter quarters at Aqueduct. In his absence George Tappen will look after the twenty-five racers that are in the Fitzsimmons barns at Hialeah Park. Benny Beach, who has been making the engagements of several of the riders at Hialeah, suffered a severe hemorrhage Friday last, and is confined to his room in Miami. Captain Tilles, for many years associated with Cella, Adler and Tilles, was a visitor. In company with C. A. Lick, Jr., he will go from here to Havana, where he will remain for several days. Mrs. H. Van, wife of the trainer of the J. R. Gregory stable, was an arrival from Louisville. Raymond "Sonny" Workman left Miami for Washington, D. C, late Sunday to attend the funeral of his grandmother. He will return to Miami later in the week. In future only one horse may run for any one interest in two-year-old events. There are more than 300 juyeniles on the grounds, and it is the Miami Jockey Clubs thought to distribute the opportunities of racing as widely as possible. Stable superintendent Al Nun reports that 950 horses have been allotted stalls at Hialeah aPrk. The following horses are on the schooling list at present: Panetian, Don Leon, Black Belt, Skyway, Bozo, Chatford, Bespangled, Booterstown, Noajoyce and Line of Fire. Jockey Johnny Leyland arrived over the week-end from Tanforan and rode his first local mount on Lady Ara. Frank J. Kearns was an arrival from Cuba. He shipped in four horses, Athol, John F., Chiefs Warrior and Westys Fox. Two others, Norwalk and Athlone Lass, will arrive at Hialeah Park in the car transporting Ed McCuans horses. Jockey W. Prior accompanied the Kearns stable from Cuba. Jockey J. Pollard, who led the older riders at Tanforan with twenty-seven winners, recently arrived from California. Pollard rode J. N. Croftons Up to win the Agua Caliente Derby and also piloted Nevada.Queen in her record breaking performance in the West. He is from Idaho and weighs 108 pounds. B. Hanford cancelled his mount of the day, owing to a slight injury he received1 while doing road work Sunday. He expects to be back in the saddle Tuesday.
