RABBLE, away forwardly, drew clear in the first quarter mile under pressure and, rated in front whila saving ground, maintained his lead thereafter under light urging. FAIR BILLOWS, always porminent, moved up menacingly in the stretch, but was no match for the winner. SLASH moved up on the outside with a rush in the early stages and, responding gamely in the stretch, outlasted CAPTAIN ED. The latter had clear racing room all the way arid had no excuses. RUFFIAN came through on the inside leaving the back stretch and improved his position steadily on the turn, but tired thereafter. DON TASKER suffered interference. ON LEAVE made up ground. JAMES RIVER began in a tangle. GAN LEE quit to a walk after going about half a mile. LUCILLE K. moved up with a rush near the eighth post and was slowly wearing down the winner. BILLIES ORPHAN, prominent all the way, challenged gamely in the stretch. SWEET VA moved up fast in the first eighth, then swerved in the stretch. TOY TOWN finished resolutely. JEAN BROWN was bumped at the start, and recovered quickly. ZEGORA, away well, showed good speed in the early stages and raced WESTYS ROSE into defeat in the first half mile and, drawing out in the stretch, tired and was under hard pressure to withstand ELIZABETH FOX. The latter met minor interference after the start, gradually improved her position and, coming in between the leaders on the stretch turn, gained fast under punishment and would have won in a few more strides. LADY ARA worked her way up and shook off FLYING BRIGADE in the last seventy yards. FLYING BRIGADE, crowded back leaving the back stretch, saved ground thereafter on, the rail, moved up resolutely entering the stretch, then tired while under hard urging. fiJTOQrT FOURTH RACE 1 Mile. PENNATE, hard urged throughout, moved up gamely on the stretch turn, but did not menace the winner. THE HEATHEN showed his usual keen speed in the early stages, then tired in the final quarter. JAZ AGE, coming through on the inside after the first eighth, rapidly shook off WAR SAINT, then drew clear under restraint and won as his rider pleased. THE GEN worked his way up between the leaders on the turn and saved ground in the stretch, outlasting WAR SAINT. The latter, quickest to start, went into a clear lead in the first eighth, but could no keep pace in the early stages, then tired in. the drive. TANCRED began from outside the machine, yet moved up resolutely on the outside on the turn and held on well in the stretch. BREEZING THRU, unlucky at the start and shuffled back, raced on the outside all the way and closed a gap. CELTIC PRINCE, slow to get going,, worked his way up on the inside, but could not get up. STAR LASSIE was shuffled back by the leaders when she tried to come through on the inside at the half-mile post but, recovering quickly, improved her position and opened up a winning lead in the final eighth. TOP HATTIE, rated behind the pace, began to improve her position on the last turn, closed with a rush and held BRUSH safe. The latter, racing improved, closed a big gap after being a trailer for the first half mile. KENSINGTON had an advantage at the start and began fast; was rated in front and appeared to hold a safe lead entering the stretch, then quit to a walk in the final seventy yards. PLAYFELLOWS DREAM suffered minor interference and did not have racing room. OUTBURST was crowded completely qut of it at the half-mile post and was again forced back entering the stretch while attempting to come through on the inside.
