DERBY TRIAL ELIGIBLES NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb. 22. Thirteen three-year-olds, headed by S. W. Labrots Springsteel, Col. E. R. Bradleys Bertjohn, A B. Letelliers Sazerac and others, were named for the ,000 added Derby Trial Handicap, nominations for which closed last Saturday, and which will be run at a mile as the feature among next Saturdays events. The fixture offers the final opportunity for the eligibles to qualify for the 0,000 added Louisiana Derby, to be renewed at nine furlongs March 19, closing day of the meeting. Lucky Tom, probable favorite for the Louisiana Derby, is not ambng the trial eligibles. When the Saturday feature is decided he will be filling a more important engagement in the Florida Derby at Hialeah Park, but immediately following that race will return here for a special prepping for the coveted closing day stake.
