ROBINSON STARS TO MIAMI Lucky Tom and Renaissance Sent to Hialeah Park for Florida Derby Next Saturday. NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb. 22. Lucky Tom and Renaissance, J. J. Robinsons good three-year-olds, and three stable companions got away on the long trip to Hialeah Park tonight. Saturday at that Miami course they will start in the renewal of the 0,000 added Florida Derby, following which they return to the Fair Grounds for the Louisiana Derby, of like value, March 19. Thir invasion of Hialeah Park will be personally supervised by H. C. Riddle, trainer of the big Robinson stable. Lucky Tom came out of the Jack L. Dempsey Memorial Handicap, the Saturday Fair Grounds feature, in good condition. He failed in a bold attempt to give away much weight to the older Spanish Play and Wotan, champions of the handicap division here. He will have his final trial for the Florida Derby over the Miami course Thursday. Trainer Riddle indulged Renaissance with a workout at the Derby distance of one mile and an eighth over a slow track at the Fair Grounds Sunday morning and the son of Master Charlie proved that he is at his best when he traversed the distance in 1:57, handily. He ran the quarter in :25, half-mile in :50, three-quarters in 1:17 and the mile in 1:44. Like Lucky Tom, he will be given his final rehearsal at Hialeah Park Thursday. With Lucky Tom and Renaissance trying for honors at Miami, the Robinson colors will not be seen in the ,000 added Derby Trial Handicap, the one mile preliminary for the Louisiana Derby candidates, Saturday at the Fair Grounds Almost without exception all others qualified to participate in such an important and testing race will accept for the Saturday headliner.
