POOLS ILL LUCK CONTINUES NEW ORLEANS, La., March 10 Jockey Earl Pool, who despite poor health, had been riding in brilliant form here, underwent an operation for gall bladder trouble at the Touro Infirmary here this morning. The operation was successful and the patient was reported as doing amazingly well this afternoon. This is Pools second bad break in little more than two years and, while he probably will be able to resume riding at Churchill Downs in May, he will be inactive for some six or seven weeks. Barring new complications, he will be confined at Touro for about two weeks, following which he hopes to leave immediately for his home at Louisville. A little over two years ago Pool suffered a severe fracture of the right kneecap in a fall from a mount at the Kentucky Association track. The injury kept him out of the saddle for a year.
