BAY LEAF, much the best and, showing speed from the start, quickly drew clear, saved ground on the turn and, continuing well without need of pressure in the stretch, won in hand. LITTLE MARCELLE, also quick to get going, saved ground, failed to seriously threaten the winner and was much the best of the others. MISS SNAPPY bearan slowlv, worked her wav through on the inside entering the stretch and finished resolutely. BLUE HAWAII had no mishaps. GORGEOUS could not get up. BOARD WALKER, unable to keep up, raced very wide throughout and was never formidable. BETTY SHINN also lost ground. BEGGAR LADY tired in the stretch. SIMPLE SINGER, never far back but in close quarters most of the way and particularly when entering the stretch, worked his way clear near the last eighth and, responding gamely, outlasted ELKHART. The latter, away slowly, saved much ground, moved up resolutely on the inside in the stretch and withstood the drive camely. K. RUSSELL, fractious at the post, showed speed, but was forced to lose ground and tired near "the end. TENNYWOOD showed speed, but quit in the last eighth. BAD NEWS, pinched back, lost ground in the final three-eighths. WISE SELLER quit badly after showing speed to the last three-sixteenths. PROMETHEUS, slow to start, continued to drop out of it on the turn, showed improved speed in the stretch and, closing with a rush, got up to win in the final stages. TOMBEREAU showed speed, raced very wide, particularly in the final quarter and held on well. SQUEAKY saved much ground and met Haht interference when the winner swerved in the final eighth. CHECKERBERRY began slowly and was going well when impeded near the end. DOLLAR PRINCESS began fast, showed good speed under strong pressure and tired badly in the last three-sixteenths. CHENE, under hard riding, drew clear before going half a mile, was briskly shaken up on the stretch turn and tired in the final eighth, but outlasted CLARET. The latter raced wide after a quarter, but held on well in an even performance. ENGLEWOOD dropped back after a quarter, lost ground and could not get up. NELL KUHL-MAN bore out badly on the first turn, raced wide thereafter and tired in the final quarter. DONNA MINE showed early sped.
