i 1 1 ; : , ; : : . j PHAR LAPS BIG CHANCE I RIGHT HERE IN CHICAGO Chicago saw Sun Beau, owned by an eastern man, pass the all-time money-winning record of Gallant Fox last year, and this year Chicago, the scene of most of the rich summer stakes for aged horses, will probably see Phar Lap, the Australian, take the record away from Sun Beau. This is, if Phar Lap has the quality that his Australian triumphs and his easy Agua Caliente Handicap victory indicate and therefore is good enough to get better than an even break with the cream of the American turf which he will meet in Chicago stakes. Phar Lap stands now 4,494 behind Sun Beau, the difference between his total of 32,250 and Sun Beaus 76,744. The Australian is coming to Chicago from Agua Caliente intended for the Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap, Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap, Arlington Gold Cup, Arlington Handicap and Stars and Stripes Handicap. The first two of these stakes are run at Washington Park and the others at Arlington Park. Winning the Sweitzer and Pea-body Memorial will not be sufficient for Phar Lap to realize the ambition of passing the American horse, but each of the three Arlington fixtures carries an added value of 0,000 and if Phar Lap wins two of them against the stubborn opposition he will meet from such stars as Twenty Grand, Mate and others that rate high in the handicap division in this country, he will become the worlds leader. It was at Arlington Park last year that Sun Beau attained his supremacy.
