LAUREL CUTS STAKE VALUES BALTIMORE, Md., June 25 The Maryland State Fair, Inc., which will conduct a tweny-four day fall meeting beginning October 3 at Laurel, has slashed 8,500 from purses it will offer horsemen, according to word given out here today by the Maryland Racing Commission. The 5,000 Washington Handicap, one mile and one quarter feature of Laurels meeting, has been reduced in value to 5,000, but the greatest cut was in the S10.000 Governor Ogle Steeplechase Handicap, the meetings greatest jumping event which now has only ,500 added. None of the stakes at Laurel will be abandoned.
