ARLINGTON PARK NOTES $ Epithet, the Warm Stables colt which set the Arlington record for three-quarters at 1:10 last summer, had his final preparation for the Inaugural Handicap by going six furlongs in 1:11, the result of a quarter in :22 and the half in :46. The greatest speed of the morning, however, was furnished by Mrs. John Hertz Risque, which went a quarter in :22, three-eighths in :33, half in :15 and was slowed up to :59 for five furlongs. She was accompanied by the Calumet Stables Ladana, and the trial pronounced her fitness for her engagement in Mondays stake. To enable delegates and visitors to the Democratic National Convention to miss as few races as possible, racing secretary Joseph McLennan placed the post time of the first race at 2:30 oclock Monday instead of the customary time of 2:15 oclock. The Chicago and North-Western Railroad, which will provide special train service to Arlington Park from its Chicago station at West Madison and Canal streets, has announced that all-steel cars will be in service this year. The first race train will leave the downtown station at 12:25 p. m., daylight saving time, to be followed by trains at 12:50 p. m., 1:15 p. m., and 1:35 p. m. Another train, with parlor car and diner, will leave at 2:30 oclock and will arrive at the track at 3:04 p. m. and is expected to accommodate many delegates and visitors to the convention who are anxious to attend the racing. Several fast workouts were noted over the main track Saturday morning, the most noteworthy of which was turned in by George D. Wideners Jamestown, a starter in the Arlington Inaugural Handicap. The juvenile champion of 1930 was timed in 1:24 for seven furlongs, the distance of the stake, being eased up after going the quarter in :23, half in :46, five-eighths in :58, and three-quarters in 1:10. Several days previously Jamestown went six furlongs in 1:12 in preparation for the race. Linus McAtee is expected to arrive Monday morning from New York to ride Jamestown.
