LUCKITE, galloping strongly while close to the leaders for the first mile, was hard urged in the final half mile while jumping well and, taking an easy lead when SHYLOCK and ALPHEUS fell at the twelfth fence, held command thereafter. SIR SWEEP, prominent throughout, was best of the others. MOONSTRUCK allowed to drop far out of contention, could not gain a forward position. DEGAS raced well for a mile and a half. FIVE OCLOCK was outrun. SHYLOCK and ALPHEUS were racing on even terms going to the twelfth fence, where they both fell. LENOX AVENUE fell at the same obstacle. FLORA CANTER moved into a winning lead after the first eighth and, kept in the firmer footing, began to tire in the final stages and had to be hard urged to withstand CHANGEABLE. The latter worked her way up on the inside to enter contention, was placed to punishment and was wearing down the winner. FAIR BILLY, under strong urging throughout, finished fast. GRAMARYE could not menace the winner in the early stages, but closed a gap. MISS TEENIE lacked early speed. DAISES BOY closed a big gap. GLEN HUNT and MT. VERNON tired. GENERAL A., rated close to the leaders and, moving into the lead with a rush entering the stretch, held MOUNTAIN ELK .safe. The latter, a factor from the start, finished gamely," but did not threaten the winner. UP, forced to race, on the outside, closed gamely. MINTON saved ground entering the stretch and finished resolutely. PROTEUS was. used up racing with the leaders. VANDER POOL showed speed for - - five-eighths -while racing in hand, but quit suddenly. LITTLE AMERICA was not. persevered with and raced poorly in losing ground all the way and went extremely wide into the stretch and can do better. POMPET, taken wide for the firm footing, reached the leaders fast, but was no match for the winner. HOPE TO DO, used up to race the early contenders into defeat, tired fast at the end. KEGGY raced evenly throughout. SILENT SHOT passed tiring horses. DOMINUS was kept in the worst going and tired from being rushed all the way. BLESSED EVENT tired early. . MASKED KNIGHT, kept in the deepest footing most of the way, "raced BROADWAY LIGHTS into defeat, but his rider was of little help -in the drive. BROADWAY LIGHTS forced a steady pace" and held on gamely in the final drive. VILLAGE VAMP had no excuses. SAMPLE BALLOT was overmatched. KNEEHIGH, well ridden and not hurried in the early stages when taken out into the best footing, moved up resolutely when put to a drive and, wearing down the leaders, had to be kept under strong urging to outlast BRANDON ROSE. The latter, hard urged to take command early, had a lot taken out of her holding the lead while racing with MATADI and WISHING STAR, but came again at the end. DESPOIL worked his way up steadily and closed gamely. ALCMAN raced to the leaders, but tired near the end. WISHING STAR was poorly handled and raced in the worst footing. MATADI showed improvement.
