POINT BREEZE, close to the early leaders, assumed command at the eighth fence, galloped along strongly thereafter, withstood challenges from KIM at the eighteenth fence and held sway thereafter. KIM, taken in hand early, jumped cleverly, challenged gamely in the closing half mile, but was not good enough. LIGHT PLUME fell at the ninth fence, was remounted and finished third. NETTA RUN fell at the eighth obstacle and finished fourth when remounted. FAIR BOB was distressed and fell at the seventeenth fence, breaking his bridle and could not be recaptured in time to complete the course. DEGAS fell at the fifth jump. DAKOL, taken to the outside of the leaders when midway of the back stretch, reached the others gradually, took command when straightened out into the stretch and was kept under pressure to make victory certain. ACCOTINK worked his way up steadily, challenged gamely near the stretch, but tired thereafter. CHLOEDAIR raced close up. SAMPLE BALLOT was hard urged and had no mishaps. BRANDON LIGHT was never a factor. JIM MOSS could not overtake the leaders. McDONALD H. was badly blocked on the first turn. PURPLE SAGE quit badly. The latter, steadied along early, was hard urged entering the stretch, but was unable to reach the winner. CODETTA moved up menacingly entering thostretch, then tired. KATE, hurried into the lead and steadied along until challenged, could not keep pace in the final drive. WALTER H. raced close up all the way and continued gamely. SIR GARETH, knocked off stride at the start, recovered gamely and closed a big gap. PRECIOUS DOLLAR closed a gap. SWEEPERMAN was made too much use of racing with the early leaders. GADAROUND had a rounh passage on the first turn.
