YOUNG STALLION TORO DIES Death Follows Week After That of His Dam American and La-tonia Derby Winner. LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 10. Toro, young stallion owned by Norman W. Church, of Los Angeles and A. B. Hancock, of Paris, Kentucky, died yesterday morning at Mr. Hancocks Claiborne Farm, at Paris. A post mortem revealed that a twisted bowel had brought about the death of the horse. Toros dam, imported Brocatelle, died last week, at the Brookmeade Farm of Mrs. Dodge Sloane, who purchased her last year for 2,000. Toro was one of the best racers of the generation which included Reigh Count, Misstep, Victorian, Petee-Wrack and other good ones. At two he won the Cin-cinnatti Trophy and the Queen City Handicap: at three, the American and Latonia Derbys and Lincoln Handicap. Besides finishing second in the Preakness and third in the Kentucky Derby. At four, he won the Grainger Memorial Handicap and at five the Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap. His earnings in four seasons totalled 42,530. Toro was retired to the stud in 1931 and his first crop of foals arrived last spring. Foaled in 1925, Toro was a bay horse by The Porter Brocatelle, by Radium. Mr. Church, his part owner, inspected his stock at Claiborne Farm a few days ago and yesterday left Chicago, for his.
