] AURORA TURF NOTES J » . ♦ Jockey Jimmy McCoy has been engaged to ride Mrs. R. E. Websters Syngo in the Kings Plate at Toronto, Canada. The colt is a gray three-year-old son of Synorix and Ugo II., and is dubbed the "Gray Ghost" by his admirers. He ranked high among the Canadian-bred two-year-olds last year and is highly regarded to win this years running of the Canadian classic. McCoy plans to leave Chicago about May 18. R. James Speers, general manager of the Winnipeg race track and inventor of the Speers starting gate, was a visitor Thursday morning and was busy distributing the stake books, which embraced the full list of outstanding events that will be offered for the seventy days of racing in western Canada. The congenial promoter is very popular among the horsemen and no few gave their consent of invading the Canadian territory to race for the 90,000 which will be distributed during the racing season. Mr. Speers plans to remain here for a week and then depart for his home. Jockey L. Hendricks, astride Flying Giblon in the last race Thursday was sus-« pended for the remainder of the meeting for rough riding.
