TRAITOR AGAIN WINS EASILY Disposes of Flo M. Early, Goes On to Defeat Miss Menifee. Nell Kuhlman Finishes Third in Cedar Point Handicap at Thistle Down Hanka Continues to Win. CLEVELAND, Ohio, Aug. 12. Traitor from the Riverview Stable, trained by R. E. Kelly, was returned a handy winner of the Cedar Point Handicap, fifth and featured attraction at Thistle Down Park this afternoon. Lady Menifee raced to second place, with Nell Kuhlman third. The good apprentice, jockey W. Hanka had the mount and it marked the second success -of the afternoon. When the start came Traitor was taken to the front and set the pace under mild restraint, with Flo M. in closest attendance to the head of the stretch. At this point Traitor drew away and thereafter enjoyed a comfortable lead. After being reserved off the fast early pace, Lady Menifee closed resolutely on the outside in the run home to finish a handy second. Nell Kuhlman raced into third place when Flo M. gave up in the final eighth. As usual the half-holiday turnout swelled the attendance much above any previous day of the week. The attending conditions were ideal. Large fields paraded in seven of the eight events and the racing aroused much enthusiasm. The rapidly improving apprentice jockey W. Hanka had his daily winner, his ninth, when he brought Sister Madge up on the outside of the leaders through the stretch to win the fourth race going away. It marked the fillys maiden win. Well up throughout, Reighburn outlasted Earl Gaar for the second award rather handily. Making his debut locally, W- S. Paynes Pass Order made every post -a winning one in the initial dash. Sym Jack was always in closest pursuit and best of the others. Spero gained steadily in the stretch and held the remainder comparatively safe at the end. An upset occurred in the second race, in which Single A. and Social Climber were most prominent until midway in the stretch. Pridie, an outsider, then forged to the front and won going away. Topsie H. came from behind in the last furlong to race into second place. Social Climber suffered inter- Continued on twenty-second page. Sylvia, astride Transmit, proved costly to the supporters of his mount and the backers of the second choice, Toltec, for the second race. While en route to the post in front of the judges stand, Transmit was acting unruly and Sylvia applied his whip liberally to his mount. Transmit then bolted into Toltec, unseating jockey Reeves and Sylvia. Both horses then raced riderless for over a mile before being captured. Transmit was withdrawn and Toltec was pulled up when the start came. Racing well up from the start, Kindacorn wore down Al Green during the final furlong of the third race and won drawing clear. Al Green ruled the popular choice and appeared an easy winner until midway of the stretch, but he failed to withstand the winners challenge. Sideshow was a tiring third well behind the leaders.
