TRAINS FOR HAWTHORNE CUP Equipoise Likely to Pass Up Delaware Handicap Swivel in Fast Saratoga Trial. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 12. T. J. Healey had Equipoise on the track this morning, and he was permitted to move along for a handy mile and a furlong in 1:58. The champion looked exceedingly well and about ready for another racing effort. His next engagement at this meeting comes in the one, mile Delaware Handicap, to be run next Friday, but it is expected he will be reserved for his engagement in the Hawthorne Gold Cup, in which he will not be required to give away any weight. Four notable fillies that are eligible for the famous old Alabama Stakes had useful trials this morning. The Alabama is a mile and a quarter, to be run Wednesday, and each of these stepped that distance. Swivel, Adolphe Pons Good daughter of Swift and Sure and Toddle, showed a complete return to good form when she went along in 2:08, handily. This was the best trial of any one shown. Edelweiss, the Wheatley Stables winner of the Coaching Club American Oaks, ran her mile and a quarter in 2:11, nicely in hand. Edward R. Bradleys Barn Swallow was sent along for a mile and. a quarter in 2:09. The daughter of Black Servant recently demonstrated that she has returned to her best form and she may be depended upon to give a good account of herself. The other eligible under saddle was A. C. Bostwicks Accent. Her trial was in 2:10 and amply good enough to warrant sending her after this famous old prize that had its first running in 1872.
