A. B. HANCOCK YEARLINGS Great Demand for These Youngsters and Good Prices Realized, Son of Gallant Fox Brings 3,000, Highest to Date Warren Wright of Chicago Is Large Purchaser. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 12. The get of the great racer, Gallant Fox, which won 28,165 during his racing career, were offered to prospective buyers at the Fasig-Tipton sales ring here last night. Plenty of action and interest was displayed by many of the crowd that packed the reserved section and lined up on the outside. Warren Wright, Jr., who races a stable in the nom de course of the Calumet Farm, was in the spotlight again when he paid the highest prices of the evening and also of the season. Bidding was brisk when a dark bay colt by Gallant Fox imported Martha Snow was led into the ring. H. C. Phipps, Jr., started the action with Mrs. G. D. Widener, being represented by A. J. Joyner, taking up the issue when Phipps quit. There Warren Wright, Jr., stepped into the picture and succeeded in getting the youngster for 3,000. He also purchased a bay colt by imported Sir Gallahad HI. Lady Stone for 0,000 and a bay colt by Toro and Scally for ,000. "A. J. Goldsborough made his first and perhaps his last purchase of the season when he got a bay colt by Gallant Fox Concession for ,500. H. C. Phipps, Jr., after bidding on all of the high priced yearlings, was at last satisfied when he obtained a bay colt by Stimulus imported "Venturesome n. for ,000. T. J. Lewis was active and bought a bay filly by imported Sir Gallahad HI. Minerva for ,100. The total of forty-three head was auctioned and the goodly sum of 8,850 was realized, an average of ,833.
