CHARLES TOWN IMPROVEMENTS BALTIMORE Md May 11 Richard Pending who motored to Charles Town W Va to look over the course at that point reported that everything is going along smoothly in preparation for the forth ¬ coming meeting that begins May 28 Many tons of top soil have been added to the rac ¬ ing strip in the past few weeks and Pending predicts that several new track records will be established Other work now in progress is the regrading of the lawns and motor roads into the course New barns are also under construction while the mutuel board directly across from the grandstand is being moved farther back from the inside rail to allow a clearer view of races Another im ¬ portant change is the erection of another tier to the judges stand for the accommo ¬ dation of the stewards
