DR A E FLOWERS DIES DALLAS Texas May 18 Dr A E Flow ¬ ers a leading light in the return of legalized racing with betting in this state died here Friday morning He had been ill for the past five years Dr Flowers was probably the best known veterinarian in the South ¬ west devoting most of his life to thorough ¬ bred horses and cattle Dr Flowers served as one of the stewards at the recent Arling ¬ ton Downs meeting and even ill health failed to keep him away from his daily duties He was tendered an offer to act here in the same capacity but declined due to his weak ¬ ened condition During the Texas State Fair he served as racing secretary when thirteen days were set aside for running races Dr Flowers was 71 and is survived by his widow
