1 BOWIE TURF NOTES $ g Superintendent Dick Pending has ironed practically all the water out of the track and it should be fast for Thursdays program. Nomination blanks for the Havre de Grace features are being distributed by William Doyle. Johnny Gilbert and Bobby Jones, two of the better older riders, will be active in the Maryland sector during the spring season. John Davis is looking after the engagements of the first named lad, contract jockey for Glen Riddle Farm, while H. Gal-lert is handling the book of the other boy. The handsome trophy, which will be donated by Mrs. Payne Whitney to the winning owner of the Rowe Memorial at Bowie on Saturday has arrived and is now on display in the office of Joseph B. Boyle, general manager of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association. Charlie Ulbig, popular Baltimorean, is handling the riding engagements of jockey Bobby Merritt at Bowie. The stewards late Tuesday fined trainer Elmer Trueman 0 for failing to have Howard Bruces colors in the jockeys room in time for the first race. a
