VANDERBILT SILKS IN FRONT Success of Young Owners Colors s Continues at New York Vicaress Runs Out When in Thick of Con ¬ tention Rose of Sharon Purse Heads Program NEW YORK N Y June 17 Good Gam ¬ ble the daughter of Chance Play and Tri ¬ angle A G Vanderbilt bought from Morton L Schwartz for 4500 to have her win the Accra Stakes the first time she carried his silks was winner of the best offering at Aqueduct Monday This was the Rose of Sharon Purse confined to fillies and mares Bud Stotler came back from Rockingham Park to saddle the filly having won the Saturday feature at the New Hampshire course with Identify and the successes of the silks were easily continued continuedThis This score of Good Gamble was easy when she led the Howe Stables Aperitif home by a big margin and third went to C H Knebelkamps Below Zero The only other starter was William Woodwards Vicaress with changed equipment blinkers being worn She was in the thick of the contention when she ran out badly going to the stretch turn to finish last lastWith With ideal racing weather another big crowd was on hand for the sport offered by the Queens County Jockey Club and there was no lack of interest interestIn In the Rose of Sharon Purse the four fil ¬ lies each a threeyearold though older were eligible left on the same stride and Malley at once went to the front with Vicaress outrunning as fast a filly as Be ¬ low Zero Aperitif was third and Good Gam ¬ ble last of the lot Malley stuck close to the inner rail with Vicaress and she swung around the first turn with a lead of day ¬ light and racing easily Below Zero was in second place and Good Gamble had moved up before Aperitif AperitifAs As Renick shook up Good Gamble in an effort to run down Vicaress Malley called on the daughter of Flying Ebony and she increased her margin to two lengths This was her advantage and she was apparently galloping along easily when she suddenly bore out badly and her chance was lost As she made her false move Good Gamble readily took care of Below Zero to gallop home winner by four lengths Aperitif had saved ground in the stretch and she also caught the Knebelkamp miss to take the place by two lengths but Below Zero had beaten Vicaress a head for third thanks to fillyThe the erratic course of the Woodward filly The hurdle race went to Mrs G Whitneys Clotho when he led home Kepi from the Brookmeade Stable with Mrs T W Du rants Little Woman saving third from Zut At the break Kepi and Zut at once moved to the front to show the way Grainger and Clotho closely lapped followed and then came Slave Girl with Little Woman bring ¬ ing up the rear Through thefront field Zut and Kepi went along closely lapped and they were leading the field by three lengths as they raced by the stands Clotho was in third place but Mr Theodore who had the mount had to rap him sharply with the whip to hold his position Slave Girl soon dropped completely out of the contention and Little Woman moved up slightly when the lower end of the field was reached reachedKepi Kepi and Zut continued to show the way in the run through the back field but Mr Theodore had crossed to the inside with Clotho and he was rapidly coming seriously into the contention Then when the top of the field was reached Zut bore out rather badly and while Clotho went to the command Kepi was racing along with him and Little Woman had moved into third place Right to the last hurdle Kepi was giving Clotho stiff argument but there Mrs Whitneys horse drew out slightly to be home the winner by two lengths
