NARRA6ANSETT INSPECTION Sunday Visitors Find Great Array of Horses at Rhode Island Track Many of Most Important Establishments of ofCountry Country Represented Outlook Bright Brightfor for Meeting Opening Wednesday PAWTUCKET R I June 17 Nearly 100 sport writers from Massachusetts Rhode Island and New York obtained a firsthand view Sunday afternoon of the extent of the thoroughbred invasion of Rhode Island The scribes of turfdom guests of Walter E OHaraxat a preopening inspection and ban ¬ quet had to fight their way through the vans and cars that jammed the entrance to the park all day They found definite proof for the prediction that Narragansstt in its first 1935 meeting which opens on June 19 will shatter every attendance speed and betting mark of last year yearThe The size and class of practically every string of thoroughbreds checking into the park amazed nsarly every one oneOne One of the arrivals was Jack Howard clever veteran who fought his way from a jockeys saddle to a high seat in tte ranks of owners trainers and breeders The cali ¬ ber of Howards stable is reflected by the fact that nine of his string of eighteen horses have been nominated for the eight big stake events which will feature the first meeting meetingHoward Howard has one or more horses nomi ¬ nated for every one of the bg events eventsIncluded Included in the Howard string are his two reliable handicap marcs Advising Anna and Ebony Lady which are scheduled to go to the post in the 5000 added King Philip Handicap the feature race on the card for the first Saturday of the meeting June 22 Howard will send his two good threeyear olds Blue Gauntlet and Albuquerque against some of the countrys best horses during the meeting while he has five great twoyearolds Stumotown Col Greenock Major Greenock Lady Greenock and Capt Greenock ready for plenty of racing in the biggest juvenile events here hereThe The arrival of Willis Sharpe Kilmers trainers H McDaniels and J Pryce with fifteen promising thoroughbreds including thirteen twoyearolds was another note ¬ worthy event as the grean orange and brown colors of Kilmer are among the most prominent and popular in the country countryKilmers Kilmers threeyeirolds include the colt North Wales II and the filly Alberta The juvenile colts in the string are Ned Reigh Ned Winter Beau Wada Beau Thor T ark abi Genesis and Ned Storm The stable also has five nice twoyearold fillies Beau Sympathy Sun Dancer Sun Surplice Genial Edna and Contour Circle CircleEXPECT EXPECT OVER 1000 RACERS RACERSScores Scores of smaller shipments brought the total horses housed here far above the 700 mark and the racing officials believe more than 1400 will be jammed into every avail ¬ able stall here before Tuesday night ready for the racing which starts Wednesday June 19 19Many Many new thoroughbred noses will bob across the finish line at Narragansett Park when the meeting begins Wednesday WednesdayCavalcade Cavalcade is on his way The star of the Brookmeade Stable is an eligible for many of the rich stakes to be contested at Narra ¬ gansett Park and it will mark his first ap ¬ pearance in this section of the country His prowess as a threeyearold makes him a standout in the older handicap colony and he is expected to make things mighty inter ¬ esting at the Rhode Island track trackHead Head Play will fight it out with him Head Play a notorious bad actor has plenty of lick this season and if any horse is to shade Cavalcades honors it is sure to be this one oneThere There will be newcomers among the threeyearolds too Omaha and Whiskolo first and third respectively in the 35 Derby are slated to take up the cudgels of war locally Omaha has already won renewals of the Kentucky Derby the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes and is carrying on in the shoes of his sire Gallant Fox Rose mont who defeated him in the Withers has aspirations to become the premier three yearold of the season and will appear at Narragansett Park to further that ambition ambitionWith With so many fine horses all newcomers to the local picture making the trek to Narragansett Park the Rhode Island oval is certain to overshadow all other meets bringing New England into new prominence as a racing stronghold
