I DERBY "FAVORITE" RACE 1 RECORD OF PUBLIC CHOICES I The Kentucky Derby has been more or less of a "favorite" race. That is, favorites have fared exceedingly well during the sixty-one runnings of the coveted race. Only thirteen times in the entire history of the Derby the favorites have finished outside the money. Thirty have won, thirteen finished second, five third and six fourth. In the last ten years seven favorites carried off the great prize.
