DELAWARE STAKE PROGRAM PROGRAMThree Three 10000 Added Stakes Head List of Features Grandstand Will Seat 7500 Fans Stall Ac ¬ commodations for 1500 Horses Track Weather Seasoned WILMINGTON Del May 3 Three 10 000 handicaps one for horses three years old and upward one for mares three years old and upward one for threeyearolds ex ¬ clusively two 7500 handicaps one for threeyearolds and upward one for three yearolds exclusively and two 5000 stakes for twoyearolds one for fillies the other for colts and geldings will constitute the stake program of the inaugural meeting of the Wilmington Steeplechase and Race As ¬ sociation at the recently finished Delaware Park ParkEight Eight miles southwest of Wilmington at the town of Stanton Delaware Park is the first race course of first rating in Delaware Twentyfive days of racing under The Jockey Club rules and managed by Edward Burke builder of the Havre de Grace course and the manager of the racing that has been conducted over it for a quarter of a century will begin at Delaware Park June 25 and continue through July 24 24OVER OVER 10000 DAILY DAILYThere There will be upward of ten thousand dol ¬ lars a day in purses pursesThe The stakes program will be beSussex Sussex Handicap 10000 added three yearolds and over one mile and a quarter quarterKent Kent Handicap 10000 added threeyear olds one mile and a sixteenth sixteenthNewcastle Newcastle Handicap 10000 added mares three years old and over one mile and a sixteenth sixteenthBrandywine Brandywine Handicap 7500 added three yearolds and over one mile and a sixteenth sixteenthDiamond Diamond State Stakes 7500 added three yearolds one mile and a furlong furlongChristiana Christiana Stakes 5000 added twoyear old colts and geldings five and onehalf furlongs furlongsPolly Polly Drummond Stakes 5000 added two I yearold fillies five furlongs furlongsDelaware Delaware Park is a perfectly equipped racing place of about six hundred acres The main course which has been ready for rac ¬ ing for more than a year and is weather seasoned is one mile around and an example of engineering comparable with the Belmont Park Saratoga Arlington Park and Havre de Grace courses which have long been rec I ognized as the finest in the country There are two steeplechase courses steeplechasing being the popular pastime of the welltodo folk of Wilmington and Wilmingtons teem ¬ ing and prosperous hinterland which spreads widely over Delaware Maryland Pennsyl ¬ vania and Jersey and takes in Philadelphia and Atlantic City CityGRANDSTAND GRANDSTAND COMMODIOUS COMMODIOUSThe The grandstand which will seat 7500 and shelter some three thousand more in rough weather is a steel cement and masonry afr fair of attractive architecture and the last word in such structures The other track buildings and the stable conform There will be stalls for 1500 horses and already ap ¬ plications for stabling indicate that all of them will be occupied by thoroughbreds from the most powerful racing establish ¬ ments of the country before the meeting begins beginsNominations Nominations for the stakes due June 1 will be received at Delaware Park Stanton Maryland by Edward Burke or John Ps Turner who will serve as racing secretary Announcement of the order of the running I of the stakes will be made later
