IS FATE AGAINST POffiPOON j Is Fate against Pompoon His sire Pom j pey was the champion twoyearold of 1925 with seven victories out of ten starts fin ishing second twice and unplaced once j learning 121630 He included the Belmont j Futurity among his juvenile triumphs and ruled second choice to the Bradley entry for the Derby of 1926 He finished un ¬ placed His son Ladysman followed his dads example and carried off the juvenile honors of 1932 with five successes out of nine starts and a total of 111435 to his credit He was favorite for the 1933 Derby I j and could do no better than finish fourth Pompoon duplicated the success of his sire and Ladysman in heading the list of two yearold winners of 1936 and was generally proclaimed the champion of his age He I has been the future book Derby favorite j ever since the entries were released and may enjoy that distinction at post time tp day Will he accomplish what his sire and Ladysman failed to do win the Kentucky Derby or is Fate against him
