Nov 2 Ramsey Coppages Mucho Gusto which came out on the track the other day with a glistening coat and worked between races in a man ¬ ner that advertised he was his old self again led all the way shook off several challenges and drew off at the end to win the 5000 added Aquidneck Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth which featured todays sport at Narragansett Park Eddie Smith riding a fresh and ready horse took full advantage of his condition and went to the lead at once Mucho Gusto was in front all the way under restraint as he made the pace down the back stretch At the end he was a length and a half clear of W A Carters Clodion which came on from New York especially for the race Clodion charging fast In the stretch was just a neck in ad ¬ vance of Calumet Farms Bull Lea oddson favorite which was outweighted at 124 pounds Mucho Gusto carried only 110 pounds poundsNEVER NEVER LOSES LEAD LEADMucho Mucho Gusto broke in front and stayed there Trouper made his run on the back stretch but could not catch the pacemaker which was leading by two lengths at the far turn where Trouper dropped back and Bull Lea under a whip ride went after the leader Smith loosened the loops at this stage when he looked back and saw Bull Lea coming up Bull upBull Lea drove after Mucho Gusto gamely around the turn but was driving under pun ¬ ishment Mucho Gusto kept his lead and was running in easy style Bull Leas weight told at the eighth post At the sixteenth marker he was tired out outClodion Clodion challenged in the final sixteenth and for a moment it looked as if he might catch the leader He went past the weighted down Bull Lea which had done his best and then moved after Mucho Gusto and Smith went to a hand ride on the winner Mucho Gusto began to gain and won drawing away The time was betting with Dim Hope scored a surprise victory in the opening six furlongs dash Charles Dickey putting up a beautiful ride to land him home half a length in advance of Mrs M Charles Maevix Brown and Millers Noble Scot was third a neck back of the runner up and the same margin in advance of Stop Light The race was run in 1 114 The winner paid 8970 8970Mrs Mrs Ivan Parkers Bryonin led all the way under a pull to win the six furlongs second event by three lengths over M s Ethel D Jacobs Mixed Weather T Powells JotEmDown the favorite finished third a neck off the runnerup and High Fire was fourth Jack Richards rode the winner whose time was l134 l134High High Fire outbroke the winner but Bry ¬ onin headed him immediately Richard had the leader under a tug down the back stretch but he threequarters third event Miss L C Whites Good Omen finished third a half length back and the same margin in front of Muggins The winners time was 113 Good Omen and Highpool fought the pace battle with Worthing rated back of them in third place to the stretch There Nash moved and took the van but Distract was flying in the final eighth and the Canadian lad had to ride hard to stave off the chal ¬ lenge Highpool quit to nothing in the stretch stretchBOB BOB C IN FRONT FRONTBob Bob C threeyearold Transmute gelding which worked himself into an enviable posi ¬ tion among the twoyearolds campaigning in New England last year scored his first victory this year after making twentyfive fruitless attempts The Transmute gelding racing in the colors of Fanfare Farms and ridden by Ronnie Nash finished the mile and seventy yards of the fourth race in 143 to be a length and onehalf to the good of Mrs Floyd Wests Prince Sador Bail Out fin ¬ ished in third place five lengths off the runnerup
