RACING COMMISSION RULINGS Illinois Body Rules Off L Knaggs S De Vito and Two Others Trainer L Wells Suspended for Ninety Days DaysBecause Because of Positive Saliva Test on onCarbines Carbines Goldy The following orders were entered by the Illinois Racing Commission Oct 29 1938 1938In In the matter of application of Cecil Lamb for reinstatement the commission entered an order continuing the case caseIn In the matter of the application of Ralph Bohn for ireinstatement the commission made no modification of its original order orderIn In the case of Leslie Knaggs suspended by the board of stewards at Sportsmans Park for violation of Rule No 240 of the Illinois Racing Commission with reference to possession of batteries the commission entered an order of ruling off for life Leslie Knaggs KnaggsIn In the case of Xen McNair sole owner of the Peacock Stables and the order en ¬ tered by the board of stewards at Sports ¬ mans Park the commission entered an order reinstating all the horses owned by Xen Mc ¬ Nair or the Peacock Stables StablesIn In the case of George Napier rider of the horse entered as Laddy Boy Ring at Wash ¬ ington Park on Aug 2 1938 the commission entered an order that the indefinite suspen ¬ sion of Napier terminate on Dec 1 1938 Consideration was Driven to Napier because of his assistance in running down the per ¬ petrators of the fraud His sworn statement that he had no knowledge or suspicion that the horse he rode was a ringer and that his association with and employment by the principals in the case to ride a single race at Washington Park only led him to suspect that a betting coup was to be attempted was also considered by the commission commissionIn In the matter of the applications of H G Knott and Frank Kiniry for reinstatement the commission entered an order continuing the cases casesIn In the matter of Sebastian De Vito Nathan E White Henry Robinson and John Williams the commission entered an order ruling off for life each of them for an at ¬ tempt to maliciously tamper with horses Continued on thirtyfirst page RACING COMMISSION RULINGS RULINGSContinued Continued from first page raced at the Hawthorne race track on the 7th day of October 1938 1938In In the case of jockey C Calvinthe Illi ¬ nois Racing Commission approves the order of the board of stewards at Sportsmans Park and entered an order continuing the suspension of jockey C Calvin to and in ¬ cluding November 10 1938 for his offense in failing to notify the owner of the horse Our David winner of the fourth race at Sportsmans Park on October 12 that his apprentice allowance had expired expiredIn In the case of jockey J Marrero the or ¬ der of the board of stewards at Sportsmans Park Is approved and an order entered by the commission suspending jockey J Mar ¬ rero to and including November 8 1938 1938In In the matter of L Wells trainerowner the commission entered the following order As a result of a positive test showing caffeine on the horse Carbines Goldy in the seventh race September 30 1938 at Fair mount Park race track itis ordered that the trainer L Wells be suspended for a period of ninety 90 days commencing October 1 1938 and ending December 29 1938 and that the horses under his control Southern Miss My Prisoner and Carbines Goldy be ineligible to race during such period of suspension suspensionFor For registering the horse My Prisoner at Fairmount Park as his own instead of as being the property of his cousin and for failure to file an application with the Illi ¬ nois Racing Commission for W Joles a groom employed by him it is further ordered that the said L Wells be suspended for an additional period of thirty 30 days com ¬ mencing December 30 1938 and ending Jan ¬ uary 28 1939
