NOSE DECISION TO HIGH TOP Emerges Victorious After Thrilling I Stretch Duel With Malinda B Ideal Autumn Weather Is Instrumental In InBringing Bringing Out Large Crowd to Churchill ChurchillDowns Downs Ho Captures the Opener LOUISVILLE Ky Nov 2 With wonder ¬ ful autumn weather again prevailing the largest weekday crowd of the meeting was i present at Churchill Downs this afternoon for a program given over to distance racing no less than four of the seven events being decided at a mile and a sixteenth or farther Excepting a race for all age maidens the card was fashioned for claiming horses and the best of the events was a six furlongs dash for better grade juveniles This re ¬ sulted in the second popular victory of the afternoon and a thrilling finish when Jay D Weils High Top gained a head decision over Dan Midkiffs Mallnda B Kates Kit Kiten en carried off third honors a half length ack ackCAUSE CAUSE FOR WORRY WORRYThe The victorious daughter of Jack High gave her backers cause for worry during he opening quarter for Malinda B and Buttons B raced far ahead of her during1 the run to the upper turn Buttons B began o weaken thereafter and A Fernandez had he Weil colorbearer In second place at the stretch turn Responding to the Cuban boys strong handling High Top moved up alongside of Malinda B approaching the final furlong and the pair raced as a team to the final strides where High Top forged to the front to hold her advantage to the end Kates Kitten worked her way forward steadily to gain on the leaders and was much the best of the others othersRunning Running back to his previous smashing effort Ho was an easy winner of the first race at a mile and a sixteenth Cross Ruff was second and Sympathizer a fielder was third thirdRidden Ridden by Paul McLean and far back while Fylfot and Sympathizer vied for lead ¬ ership during the opening half mile the winner moved forward on the outside and wresting the lead from Sympathizer ap ¬ proaching the final quarter he came to the finish with four lengths to spare Cross Ruff enjoyed the same advantage over Sympa ¬ thizer with Black Gift the fourth horse another five lengths back Fylfot bled and was pulled up in the drive driveUPSET UPSET IN SECOND SECONDComing Coming from well back and on the extreme outside Heel Dust carried Young and Rogers colors to a surprise victory in the second race fashioned for plater juveniles and over six furlongs Fanfun even money hazard was threequarters of a length back of the winner and three lengths before Bil boquet the third horse horseAfter After being pitted against superior com ¬ pany Young Ebony threeyearold son of Flying Heels and Copper Kit led through ¬ out the six furlongs of the Morning Glory Purse third event and fashioned for maid ¬ ens of all ages Second and third honors went to the twoyearolds Avesta and Peter Tokalon the latter a slight favorite over the older Better Forget which finished fourth fourthBoy Boy Valet which disappointed in his previ ¬ ous effort was a driving and popular winner of the Cherokee Park Purse the fifth event Ahead was a half length back at the end ot the mile and onequarter with third honors going to Laura Kiev Moving into the lead after going threequarters Boy Valet rap ¬ idly established a good advantage and al ¬ though tiring in the last stages withstood Aheads belated charge Sam Alexander showed the way for six furlongs and then I dropped back steadily to be well beaten at the end
