ANOTHER LADIES DAY Detroit Management Admits Fair Sex Free to Thursdays Races Elks Day Friday Expected to Draw Drawan an Attendance of Holiday HolidayProportions Proportions DETROIT Mich July 13 Appreciating the support extended the meeting by the fairer sex the Detroit Racing Association added another day to its regular Ladies Day schedule when they admitted the ladies free today The regular program called for ladies to be the guests of the management on each Tuesday and Friday holidays excepted As Memorial Day and July 4 fell on Tuesdays ladies were the guests of the management on the Mondays of those weeks weeksThe The largest Ladies Day crowd of the meet ¬ ing was present Tuesday and appreciating that fact the management set today aside for them and tomorrow they again will be admitted free freeWhile While the crowd today was on a par with that of Tuesday in spite of the heat tomor ¬ rows gathering should equal or surpass any Saturday gathering It will be Elks Day and members of this order also will view the races as the guests of the management and in a section of the grandstand set aside for them themSPECIAL SPECIAL NAMES NAMESA A very attractive allclaiming race pro ¬ gram has been arranged for Elks Day and the best field will be in the one mile and seventy yards event named the Number 34 Lodge of Detroit Elks Other races honor leading members of the order and the Elks charity benefit of which W E Funke is chairman Cal Latham life member of the organization and in charge of the Detroit Admittance Department is in charge of the program and he expects 1500 brother mem ¬ bers to be present presentTwo Two of the eight races are for juveniles the best lot meeting under better grade claiming conditions in the fifth number Toast Nick C and Airtight winners here will oppose Entre Nous Wildmute Wise Greenock and Indian Penny The other two yearold contest also at five furlongs is fashioned for lowly maiden platers platersAJAX AJAX PURSE BEST BESTTodays Todays offering was topped by the Ajax Purse and sixth event It was for three yearolds and Oceantide Wise Attorney Brilliant Nell and Little Mara all of which have won here opposed Firerab Starry Path and Pepper Box Six fair plater sprint ¬ ers made up the field for the Grand Trunk Purse fifth on the card with Milk the pre post favorite favoriteJames James R Collins saddled his first winner when Geo Krelibiel drove to a surprise vic ¬ tory in the threequarters first race Fez also neglected in the wagering was second a head back and two lengths before Land of Rheims which beat Maebob by a half of a length for minor honors Frost Bite a 9 to 5 choice tired after leading the field to the final eighth eighthGeo Geo Krehbiel worked his way forward while Frost Bite Imperial Lu and Josie R Continued on thirtyfifth page ANOTHER LADIES DAY Continued from first page dominated the pace to the stretch and com ¬ ing fast after Maebob had subdued Frost Bite he got up in the final stride to score a head victory victoryPetes Petes Niece a daughter of Peter Hastings and Uncles Lassie the latter dam of Clyde Van Dusen and other renowned winners was an easy and popular winner of the second race at six furlongs Palatine Belle carried off second honors and King Bee the second choice finished third Ridden by M L Fallon the winner made every post a win ¬ ning one with Palatine Belle and King Bee the best of the others Monie Blue had early speed but quit badly after a half mile mileI I J Collins Hargram chalked up the in ¬ itial victory of his career in accounting for the third race fashioned for lowly plater threeyearold maidens Lady Overbrook led the field of eleven to the final furlong where she gave way to the winner but held on to beat the fastfinishing Ajaygee which enjoyed favoritism for second honors HaV gram moved up in company at his previous asking followed in closest pursuit of Lady Overbrook during the run to the stretch and taking command nearing the final furlong drew away to have slightly more than a length to spare
