ANOTHER DENEMARK TRIUMPH Windy City Stable Continues to Win at Suffolk Downs Upstream Latest Winner for Chicago Owner Llstaro Hangs On Gamely to toHun Hun Second BOSTON Mass July 13 Closing with a cyclonic rush through the stretch after hav ¬ ing been far back for most of the way Upstream a fouryearold son of Fairway and Flying Fish II racing for Mrs E Dene mark scored convincingly in the featured Somersville Purse at one mile and a six ¬ teenth Well back of the successful colt a spirited duel was going on for the place terminating in a nose finish when Listaro from the Weston W Adams string managed to outlast A S Pierces PanoraScope Fourth place went to Dark Beau and Napper Tandy led home the only other starter Gerald to complete the field fieldOf Of the seven named overnight White Sand declined the issue the A C C Stable relying on Gerald GeraldPOST POST DELAY DELAYAfter After a slight delay the field left in align ¬ ment Listaro was first under way closely attended by Napper Tandy Going to the first turn it was the Adamsowned gelding showing the way Polk sent Gerald to the inside and saving ground was in the lead as the back stretch was reached Robart sent the son of The Romp II up on the outside and Napper Tandy drove through between the two pacemakers For almost a sixteenth of a mile the three leaders bat ¬ tled along head and head Meanwhile Up ¬ stream was trailing far back backAs As the leading trio continued their battle for command Gerald on the inside was first to give way Listaro forged to the front and at the halfmile ground had daylight show ¬ ing over Napper Tandy The A C C Stable fiveyearold was right there Upstream con ¬ tinued in the rear rearCHALLENGES CHALLENGES LEADER LEADERListaro Listaro was still clear entering the stretch but Upstream began to show improved speed the Denemark colt moving up boldly on the outside A f urlorigfrom the finish Upstream was right with the leader and it seemed un ¬ less something untoward happened the Fair ¬ way colt would surely be returned the win ¬ ner nerIt It was no trick for Upstream to move to the front drawing away steadily to have an advantage of over two lengths at the finish Listaro battling it out stubbornly while no match for the winner held on cour ¬ ageously Gerald after his flare of early speed runningIdeal dropped far out of the running Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the sport The racing strip was slow at the start of the afternoons entertainment but im ¬ proved to be good by the time the fourth race was run
