THREADNEEDLE RETIRED RETIREDThreadneedle Threadneedle who raced successfully for many years under the colors of Mor ¬ ris Vehon has been permanently retired and this spring is being bred to Slave Ship Her retirement increases to four the number of mares Vehon has for breeding purposes the others being Smart Trick and Mothers Love who were retired last year and the older ma ¬ tron Princess Edith Smart Trick is in foal to Balladier and this season goes to Blue Larkspur while Mothers Love who visited Peace Chance last spring is booked to Brevity Princess Edith in foal to Balladier is later to be sent to Ladysman Her yearling filly by Cohort is one of the finest individuals she has produced This youngster is a full sister to Smart Trick The Vehon horses are at the farm of Charles Asbury where Jake Lowenstein who has been training for the Chicago sportsman for a num ¬ ber of years has the mare Doris Jean Barren last year she is to be bred fo Agrarian this spring She has a nice yearling son by Roman Soldier
