MUCH ACTIVITY REPORTED AT KENTUCKY FARMS BASHFORD MANOR SCENE OF MUCH IMPROVEMENT IMPROVEMENTNew New Construction Program Will Bring Back Plenty of Old Time Splendor It Had in Past PastBashford Bashford Manor Farm beauteous show place located on Bardstown Road just outr side Louisville in Jefferson County Ken ¬ tucky is one of the busiest establishments of its kind in this sector at present The nursery which is owned jointly by Mrs J R Peabody Sr and Dennis Long daughter and son of the late George J Long who sent three Kentucky Derby winners to the post is coming back to the thoroughbred sport in grand style styleThe The farm which is now under the capable management of Robert Witwer has been the scene of much improvement the past year The ideally constructed buildings and paddocks originally designed and built by the former master of Bashford Manor have been repaired and put in first class condi ¬ tion The youthful Witwer who has taken active charge of the construction program plans to further the progress of the pre ¬ tentious stud farm and the next planned tasks will be new fencing for several of the paddocks and the possible construction of a halfmile training track trackThe The most important announcement to come from Bashford Manor however is that the establishments famous peacock blue and yellow silks may again be seen in action on the nations major race courses Several mares belonging to the farm are either bred or will be mated with the stal ¬ lions imported Tetrashal Jimmy Sutro and Sir Jim and if the offspring measure up to expectations will be campaigned campaignedTetrashals Tetrashals book this season has been a full one and Brown Sinner who dropped a filly foal by him has been bred back Sob Sister a daughter of the stakes winner Boot to Boot has also visited the court of the imported sire Kitty Kover who has a foal at side by Tetrashal will be bred back to him Other mares to be mated with the handsome chestnut horse are Town Limit Escobress and Baf Gee The latter is the property of Mrs Silas T Baxter and was recently shipped to Bashford Manor from Lexington John P Letellier sent Kind An ¬ nie a daughter of the late Brilliant to the farm and she was bred to Tetrashal on April 16 Frank P Letellier is also a patron and his Nedvive who is now with a suckling colt at side the get of Chance Sun is to be bred to Tetrashal TetrashalGirl Girl of My Dreams who is the property of David Chism of Louisville has a suckling foal at side by Isaiah and is to be mated with the Bashfords leading stallion in the near future Baby Lynn from the stable of A C Snyder has been retired from cam ¬ paigning and will also visit Tetrashals court courtJimmy Jimmy Sutro will be bred to Dusty Boots the property of E P Morris Narise Deer path and Georgia Meaden The latter trio belong to the Lewin Stable and should pro ¬ vide the young stallion with a good chance as a sire for all are exceptionally well bred Narise is a daughter of Carlaris and Noise who was the get of Spanish Prince II Deer path is the offspring of Flying Heels and Dear Maria and the latters sire was Ambas ¬ sador IV while Georgia Meaden is by Vita and from the mare lolanthe by Broom ¬ stick stickWitwer Witwer is also making extensive plans for the recently acquired Sir Jim James who enters the stud with excellent breed ¬ ing in his favor The eightyearold son of St James and Easter Fashion by Sweep is a well conformed animal Early in his rac ¬ ing career he gave promise of being a top performer but an injury to a leg decided his owners to give him a chance as a sire sireAll All indications point to the fact that Bashford Manor is again to take its place as a potent factor in the thoroughbred sport The good wishes of many turfmen and officials especially those gentlemen who were acquainted with the late George Long are with Mrs Peabody who was active in restoring the farm and to manager Witwer whose untiring efforts have brought back much of the old time splendor which was Bashford Manors in the past
