FAIRMOUNT PARK WILL HAVE PLENTY OF COMPETENT RIDERS RIDERSMany Many Who Rode at Sportsmans and Churchill CollinsvilleBound CollinsvilleBoundCOLLINSVILLE COLLINSVILLE 111 May 20 The riding talent at Fairmount Park for the forthcom ¬ ing spring meeting promises to be above par Already close to two dozen reinsmen have made known their intentions of per ¬ forming here and the presence in the group of many old reliable favorites assures the exhibition of better than average horse ¬ manship manshipPaul Paul Keiper and Willie Lee Johnson both riding champions at past Fairmount Park meetings are returning to ply their tr de Keiper with the stable of F E Waldron and Johnson with the string of Mrs R J Murphy Keeper led the list here last fall with twentythree triumphs and this season also annexed the Hot Springs riding diadem with twenty victories Johnson was leader here in the fall of 1937 1937Andy Andy Bomar who finished second to Kei ¬ per in point of winners last fall with twenty is also returning In fact he is already here having arrived over the weekend along with the Cuban Roberto Gonzalez Both accom ¬ panied the E B Shipp stable from Sports ¬ mans Park SEEN ACTION AT SPORTSMANS SPORTSMANSFrom From Sportsmans Park which concluded a spring meeting Saturday there are also coming Andy LoTurco Alex Schlenker Johnny Glaug N L Pierson T Haley Ralph Bohn R J Jones Nick Jemas W Arm ¬ strong Harold West and Warren Cornay LoTurco was one of the most successful reinsmen at the Sportsmans session Schlen ¬ ker several seasons ago here built up a rep ¬ utation as a long shot expert expertWillie Willie Lee Johnson Georgie Ryan Bobby Montgomery and Willie Gonzales are among those pilots known to be coming from Chur ¬ chill Downs while from Beulah Park there are to be here Eddie Burns Ray Hidalgo Jimmy Green and quite a number of others Hidalgo is a promising apprentice attached to the Woodcock King stable stableThere There are already quite a few riders here Besides Bomar and Gonzalez engaging in morning training drills are Don Gray John ¬ ny Juarez Ted King Bill Frye and Sterling Anifantis Anifantis and Georgie Ryan are youngsters who will be started on their careers during the coming meeting meetingWhile While the twentysevenday meeting be ¬ gins Decoration Day May 30 general man ¬ ager D C Burnett is pointing first for this Sunday which will be Inspection Day To have the plant looking its tidiest Bur ¬ nett ordered an extra crew of painters and workmen in action this morning A stee ¬ plechase exhibition by leading women rid ¬ ers will be an added feature of Inspection Day
