WEIL TO ANNOUNCE MEETING DATE FOR NEW TURF BODY Illinois Chapter of Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Assn AssnCRETE CRETE 111 May 21 Monte Weil Illinois turfman who was chosen secretary of the organization at the first meeting in Florida last winter announced today that the first meeting of the Illinois chapter of the Horse ¬ mens Benevolent and Protective Association will be held in the near future Meanwhile Weil is going ahead with his missionary work in behalf of that organization among the horsemen at the tracks in the Chicago area areaThe The first step along this line was the dis ¬ tribution of the issue of the magazine pub ¬ lished by the organization and a pamphlet which sets forth its bylaws and outlines its objectives objectivesAt At the time the association was formed in Florida the country was divided into seven racing districts to facilitate the administra ¬ tion of the organization and to better handle any problems which might arise There are seven districts in the association of which Illinois Ohio Michigan Kentucky and Nebraska are known as District No 5 5BYLAWS BYLAWS OF ORGANIZATION ORGANIZATIONAs As set forth in the bylaws of the organ ¬ ization the purpose of the association is to create establish and maintain a fund to financially aid and assist horsemen and their employes participating in racing or who have participated in the sport in an honorable way in the past to provide for the sick or uncared for horsemen of every character to see that they are provided proper sanitary conditions to keep up with the associations racing in providing ambulances first aid rooms and hospitalization for those who may need medical assistance assistanceThe The association also has its objective seek ¬ ing the right to advise racing associations and commissioners when changes in the rac ¬ ing rules are under consideration It also will provide legal counsel for members at all hearings where the members are accused of serious rule violations and to see a closer relationship between horsemen racing asso ¬ ciations and racing commissioners commissionersThe The Horsemens Benevolent and Protec ¬ tive Association has sought to establish itself f slowly and carefully with permanency rather r than a meteoric rise its main objective of development developmentWeil Weil reports that a number of horsemen 3 have expressed themselves as being inter ¬ ested in the organization and are planning 5 to attend the meeting for which a definite date and place will be announced in a few y days
