HORSEMAN AIDED BY FUND FUNDDETROIT DETROIT Mich June 6 The first horse ¬ man to receive benefits from the Detroit Fair Grounds Horse and Jockey Protection Fund at the local track was Edward day ¬ man Dayton Ohio owner He was pre sentedwith a check this morning for 625 by track officials after his gelding Gay Bill was cut down in a race here Thursday and had to be destroyed dayman was given the money which was equal to the winners end of the purse for the particular race in which his horse met with the accident necessitating death as a humane measure The fund which is believed to be the only one of its kind in the nation is maintained permanently here and benefits up to a 2500 maximum for such accidents as befell Clay mans colorbearer are in order
