FIVE WINNERS FOR G KING KINGDETROIT DETROIT Mich June G Jockey George King 20yearold Thebes III rider set a new record at the Detroit Fair Grounds Thursday when he became the first boy to win five races in one day at the local course Accepting mounts in each of the eight races on the pro ¬ gram Kings score was five winners one second and two unplaced He success ¬ fully handled Peckerwood Tomluta Wise Dean Chandera and Mandas Baby winners of the second third fourth fifth and seventh races The boy is un ¬ der contract to James C Ellis owner of Bade Park race track and a big stable of horses horsesFifteen Fifteen times previously a jockey has ridden four winners in one day at the local track Seven riders held this honor the latest being George Wallace who accomplished the feat May 23 1941 King now is leading the Detroit saddle colony with twentyfour victories Pre ¬ viously he had ridden triples at the cur ¬ rent meeting on two occasions Wallace and Jack Flinchum are tied for second with thirteen winners each
