ATKINSON SADDLE STAR OF SUFFOLK PROGRAM PROGRAMPilots Pilots Winners of First Three Events on Card Boiled Shirt Whips Lady Waterloo by Head HeadBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 13 Only one publio choice was successful out of the first six races at Suffolk Downs this afternoon re ¬ minding those present that today was Friday the thirteenth Red Meadow was the lone favorite to make good for the talent talentIn In the best race of the afternoon the six furlongs of the Jamaica Plain Purse for threeyearolds Boiled Shirt from the string of Marshall Field after knocking at the door in his last half dozen endeavors finally moved into the winners circle for the first time since the Tropical Park meeting in March The Jacopo colt had to be at his best to register by a head while under a punishing drive He hung up the good time of 111 for the distance Lady Waterloo from the Maple Crest Farm was a deter ¬ minedgoing second with E F Bennetts Quizzle taking the show award Riding honors for the afternoon were cinched early in the day by Ted Atkinson when he booted home the winners of the first three races on the program the Daily Double naturally being included Atkin ¬ sons successful mounts were Darkmelus Red Meadow and Sweet Shop As Blue Lily sped out in front through the back stretch in the feature May was hard at work on Boiled Shirt to have the Field colt keep in near attendance of the pace Lady Waterloo was racing prominently at this juncture The favorite Alaking was showing just in advance of two of the com ¬ pany a position the Headley filly as to hold to the end endMAY MAY WHIPS WINNER WINNERBoiled Boiled Shirt when bettering his position stayed close to the inner rail as he moved up steadily A quarter mile from the finish the Jacopo colt succeeded in wearing down the pacemaker After taking over the lead Boiled Shirt drew clear It did not seem that anything would endanger the Field colt for the remainder of the way However Lady Waterloo had to be reckoned with The Maple Crest filly moved up so swiftly that a sixteenth of a mile from the finish she was right at the leading colts saddle girths May had sensed this threat and was whipping furiously on Boiled Shirt Quizzle had started to turn in improved speed and benefited by a great saving of ground at the stretch turn moved up upBoiled Boiled Shirt was giving his utmost out m front but Lady Waterloowas moving to the leader inch by inch May never let up on the Jacopo colt and held to a lead of a short head as the finish line was reached Lady Waterloo continued to battle right down to the line and was a length to the good of Quizzle for the place award Blue Lily gave way completely in the closing stages to be beaten to the line by Blue Warrior The lat ¬ ter colt with blinkers left off his equipment was going in fine style when too late to be of any considerable danger to the leading Irio IrioW W F Morgans Espero a recent arrival from the Metropolitan circuit turned in a sparkling effort to take the Revere Purse a fivefurlong juvenile allowance offering that served as the secondary attraction on the card Begda from the stable of J C Braswell of Tulsa Okla a winner of her only outing and installed the choice raced into second place J H Louchheims Chop Sticks earned the show award
