FLYING INDIAN TOPS BETSY ROSS STAKES FIELD ELEVEN CRACK JUVENILE FILLIES BID FOR HONORS HONORSAstoria Astoria Victress Top Weight in Suffolk Event Banjo Eyes and Light Lady Among Entries EntriesBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 20 Eleven two yearold fillies from the sixtyseven nomina ¬ tions were named through the entry box this morning for the third renewal of the Betsy Ross Stakes top attraction of the splendid weekend program arranged at Suffolk Downs DownsIt It is the first important prize of the sea ¬ son for juveniles in New England with its added value of 7500 This dash of five fur ¬ longs has attracted practically all the top flight fillies in the East Topping the com ¬ pany is Mrs A Pelleteris Flying Indian a winner of three of her four racing ventures and includes the Astoria Stakes at Aqueduct By the conditions governing the Betsy Ross the daughter of Flying Heels and Indian Summer is forced to shoulder 116 pounds In the draw for post positions Flying In ¬ dian drew the outer berth at the post This means that the filly will have to be for wardly placed in the threesixteenths mile run to the first turn or she may run into some difficulties However the miss is re ¬ ported to be possessed with lightning early foot and the outside postiion should prove little or no handicap handicapAnother Another likely candidate is Banjo Eyes a daughter of Mr Bones and Pharlarita This miss was third in the Astoria Stakes back of Flying Indian at equal weights of 113 pounds The Mr Bones filly has a five pound weight concession from the Pelleteri filly in this engagement and must be consid ¬ ered as capable of extending the top one for every stride of the journey journeyHE HE ABLE Y TRIO TRIOHal Hal Price Headley who has been meeting with considerable success during the pres ¬ ent meeting has named a trio to carry the navy blue and white silks Pig Tails is re ¬ garded as the better of the three Trainer M Smoke Hersliensohn has been elated in the manner in which the Hollyrood filly has been going along in training trials Her Metropolitan form was good enough to war ¬ rant that she be given every attention Loto poise graduated impressively during the Bel mont Park meeting and should serve as a suitable mate Spiral Pass was unfortunate in not having won both her starts over the Boston strip stripTrainer Trainer Max Hirsch has sent Light Lady from Aqueduct to take part in the stake The daughter of Sweeping Light has only started once and won that outing so con ¬ vincingly that she must be considered one of the ranking fillies of the company In her winning engagement the Hanger filly got over the five furlongs in 59 59Vivacity Vivacity a daughter of Rosolio and Spree from the Salubria Stable raced well in her last local engagement being beaten the mat ¬ ter of inches in a picture finish Clockers have been impressed by the manner in which she has been taking to training trainingNICELY NICELY WEIGHTED WEIGHTEDSearchlight Searchlight from the Manhasset Stable second in her last local effort is well suited under her impost of 107 pounds It was only in the 1 vst strides she lost that race raceProbably Probably the outstanding representative among the New England campaigners is Begda The manner in which this miss won her first outing suggested that she was a miss of quality In her next start she was forced to accept defeat from Espero It was a swiftlyrun dash and it may be that Espero is a better colt than generally re ¬ garded Allen T Simmons Smarty is the other member of the field Her New Eng ¬ land form warrants her being rated as pos ¬ sessing more than an outside chance
