SHINE ONIGHT BLUE DELIGHT REGARDED MATRON PROSPECTS PROSPECTSFormer Former Won Arlington Stake Last Year Latter Victress in Lassie LassieThe The Chicago racing season which opened at Sportsmans Park and continued thirty days at Lincoln Fields reaches its peak dur ¬ ing the sixtysix days which Arlington Park and Washington Park now operated in com ¬ bination will be running The thirtyfour day Arlington Park session which opens Monday is of course the banner meeting but Messers Lindheimer et al are doing their best to build up Washington Park so that its meeting will compare favorably with the session at the North Side course Arlington Park has a very attractive schedule of stake evenls with three listed for decision the first week the 2500 added Myrtlewood Handi ¬ cap on opening day the 2500 Primer Stakes on Wednesday and the 7500 added Arlington Matron Handicap on Saturday This latter event is of course the first im ¬ portant fixeture on the schedule of the North Side course which includes the Fu ¬ turity the Lassie the Classic and the Stars and Stripes Handicap HandicapDuring During the last two weeks of the Lincoln Fields meeting we have seen two of the more prominent contenders for the renewal of the Matron Handicap The first of these were W C Hobsons Shine ONight who lost a neck decision to Mrs Marie Evans Shot Put in the 5000 added La Salle Handicap after almost standing off the Chance Shot gelding in a long drive through heavy hold ¬ ing mud in that mile and threesixteenths test MATRON WINNER OF 1940 1940Shine Shine ONight won the seventh running of the Arlington Matron last year by three lengths over Hyman Friedbergs Montsin while negotiating the mile in 136 over a fast track with a 103pound burden Follow ¬ ing that victory the bay daughter of Man ONight shipped east and won the New Eng ¬ land Oaks at Narragansett Park ParkIn In accounting for the New England Oaks SLine ONight whipped such as the Calumet Farms Little Risk and the Tower Stables Raise Up at a mile and a sixteenth Last Saturday Shine ONight who had made one previous appearance at the meeting looked fit and ready for her best effort parading to the post and she didnt disappoint as she gave Shot Put a good argument argumentThe The other prominent contender for the Matron Handicap who has been seen in actionNis Mrs John Marschs Blue Delight who won at first asking here after finishing a nose off Misty Isle in a previous outing at Churchill Downs That daughter of Blue Larkspur turned in a good race here Tues ¬ day to qualify for that engagement engagementBlue Blue Delight is no newcomer in these parts the daughter of Blue Larkspur and Chic leight having accounted for the Arlington Lassie as well as the Joliet Stakes at Lincoln Fields last season Her victory in the former fixture was verv impressive the Marsch miss taking command at the break and hold ¬ ing sway throughout to be two and onehalf lengths clear of Joseph E Wideners Misty Isle who was held at oddson at the final marker The Lassie was the final engage ¬ ment of the 1940 season for Blue Delight but she has done so well in her recent outings that it looks as if she can be regarded as one of the top members of her division this year
