Pena Pilots Deepdene to Easy Triumph at Fairjnount Park ParkCOLLINSVILLE COLLINSVILLE 111 June 3 Jockey Marcos Pena was away to a good start at Fairmount Park today when he rode Deep dene to victory in the opening race It was No 13 for the meeting for the Cuban reins man who rode a good race He saved his mount close to the pace of the favored Hooks to the stretch turn then sent Deep dene to the front and the latter drew away to win by five lengths Hooks stopped badly in the run home and was beaten by both Sunburst who finished second and Watch Chilla who wound up third in the final strides stridesSildonna Sildonna the favorite had the most early speed in the second race and under a good ride by jockey C Calvin lasted to win by a half length For a time in the stretch it appeared as if Early Riser who had been racing in second position might catch her In fact the pair were about even entering the last fifty yards but Sildonna gained her second wind near the end and was drawing away The Daily Double combina ¬ tion of Deepdene and Sildonna paid 1840
