Influx of Horses Doe at Hornewood HornewoodMany Many CaliforniaOwned and Raced Stables Will Be on Deck for SeventyDay Season SeasonWith With the ArlingtonWashington Park Park70day 70day season scheduled to get under way wayon on June 19 only two weeks from today the theI I influx of horses will start in earnest this thisI I veek Everything is in readiness for active training at the Washington Park course 1 with all the major improvemnts at the plant including a new drainage system i the racing strip rebuilt and the extensive 1 work in the stable area completed I completedI As has been the case in recent years the Homewood track will draw various Cali ¬ fornia stables These establishments have won their share of races in the past and are expected to figure prominently in the stakes and feature races carded this sea ¬ son Stall reservations have been received from Hurst Philpot former jockey and brother of Graceton who has requested ac ¬ commodations for his public stable of 19 head In his string will be seven belonging to Charles S Howard and including Fed ¬ eral Agent an eligible for the Arlington Classic Ship of State and Phar Marine both futurity eligibles and Alaska Queen who has been nominated for the Arlington Lassie and the Princess Pat Stakes Philpot also handles the horses of Law ¬ rence Barker B B Robinson and Miss Ethel Hill as well as those who race under his own silks Georgie Drum Returning ReturningA A stable due momentarily from the Coast and one which cut quite a swath in last seasons sport is that of Allen Drumheller who has been campaigning his string at Bay Meadows Heading the Drumheller contingent is Georgie Drum who won the Sheridan and Emerson F Woodward Me ¬ morial Handicaps here last summer and Sirde well regarded threeyearold who re ¬ cently annexed the Vallejo Handicap at the San Mateo course courseTrainer Trainer E L Woody Fiezgerald has listed 10 to carry the familiar colors of Norman W Church Proclamation a colt by Blenheim II and Heralder whom the West Coast sportsman purchased out of the yearling sales for 8000 and Quick Re ¬ ward who is by Reaping Reward out of Fast Strike are the Church stable candi ¬ dates for the two Futurities to be decided here v vThe The Janss brothers West Coast owners and breeders will have a string of twelve carrying their silks The stable is under the supervision of trainer Stanley Devore DevoreOther Other California horsemen campaigning at eastern tracks and at the Lincoln Fields meeting now in progress at Hawthorne also will be at the Homewood track for the long impending season The division that R A Lewis has at Hawthorne for W W Cren shaw will be augmented by the eastern unit which is under the direction of head trainer Jimmy Wallace while W F Alvarado will bring in 13 head including the horses of Miss Anita King from Suffolk Downs The exact date of shipment of the fashionable Louis B Mayer string from New York hasnt been announced as yet but it is expected to be on hand in ample time lor the opening openingMeanwhile Meanwhile racing secretary Webb AEv ¬ erett has opened his offices at the track while general manager John D Jackson who has supervised the various improve ¬ ments has been at the track daily for the past several weeks
